Steplight assists communities in reducing their ecological footprint.
We do this by (click the links to find out more):
- Conducting household and business sustainability assessments. Assessments provide both general and site-specific advice about affordable improvements that will reduce environmental impact and save money.
- Providing tailored software and equipment to organisations, installers and assessors. These tools enable individuals and organisations to carry out their own sustainability assessments, tailored to specific needs, clients or commercial purposes. The national igreen and Y Green youth development initiatives are examples.
- Conducting training programs and community workshops in sustainability.

A brief introduction to Steplight
Steplight was established in 2007 after a successful collaboration to deliver home sustainability assessments in Randwick City Council.
Steplight has gone on to further refine our home sustainability approach, including the development of a comprehensive and independent sustainability knowledge base, extensive software systems and operational know-how. We have completed several home sustainability programs for local government and other sponsors, involving the completion of a few thousand individual home sustainability assessments.
We have collaborated with the Dusseldorp Skills Forum on the development of the Y Green and igreen programs – initiatives which combine our experience and systems with accredited training for young people.
We are focused on helping communities reduce their ecological footprint. In order to achieve this we are committed to:
- • Providing quality information to households and organisations, fully independent of product suppliers or installers
- • Systemising our approach to facilitate quality engagement, customised reporting, and tracking of program results
- • Keeping in contact with the communities we serve by reviewing their progress over the long term
